Board-certified dermatologist Catherine Carretero, MD, provides a full range of dermatological services to men, women, and children in Denver, Colorado. At Lower Highlands Dermatology, Dr. Carretero diagnoses, treats, and helps prevent various skin ailments such as psoriasis, acne, and eczema.
Besides medical dermatology, Dr. Carretero provides a full range of cosmetic procedures, including dermal fillers, laser skin treatments, and cutting-edge ultrasound energy therapy. These innovative methods use state-of-the-art technology to improve patients’ skin, reverse skin flaws, and reduce the signs of aging.
Born and raised in Detroit, Dr. Carretero attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor before earning her medical degree at Wayne State University. She completed her internship and dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where she received multiple awards for outstanding resident research.
Dr. Carretero twice presented at the American Academy of Dermatology and has published several scientific articles. She’s appeared in Elle magazine, the Denver Post, and on Colorado Fox morning news. She’s a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the Colorado Medical Society, the Denver Medical Society, and the Colorado Dermatological Society.
Dr. Carretero enjoys seeing patients of all ages at her private practice in the Mile High City. She speaks both English and Spanish fluently and proudly serves Denver’s Latino community.
Ann Whiteley is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with almost 20 years of experience in the health care arena. She holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, another bachelor of science degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and a master of science degree from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Ann’s wealth of health care experience ranges from neurology to intensive care to interventional radiology and beyond. Now she splits her time between dermatology and urgent care and feels grateful that she gets to serve such a wide variety of patient needs.
Ann discovered a passion for all aspects of skin care while doing a specialty rotation in graduate school with Dr. Carretero. A few years later, she joined the practice here. Ann loves that her current practice combines the medical specialty of dermatology with the cosmetic aspects of skin care. Ann takes care to educate her patients and answer their questions thoroughly. She takes pride in treating each person as an individual and addressing every patient’s unique needs.
Ann was born and raised in Colorado and continues to call it home. She and her husband are raising their two daughters here. In her spare time, she loves to travel, make jewelry, and volunteer at a local animal shelter.
